Sporting Memories

Conversations recorded in partnership with the Sporting Memories Foundation which tackles dementia, depression and loneliness through the power of sports reminiscence.

20x 5min, by Tongue Tied Productions, first aired 25th April 2020

With face-to-face meetings not an option during the pandemic, the Foundation was faced with finding new ways to engage and support its members.

With the support of the Audio Content Fund, members were able to continue their weekly conversations with facilitators, and bring their often-times incredible first-person accounts of incredible sporting moments to millions of listeners on talkSPORT.

The series brought funny, moving and heart-warming football-loving stories from all over the UK, with contributors from Glasgow to Exeter to Ipswich.

Jim Herriot spoke of his goalkeeping career with Dunfermline, Birmingham City, Hibernian and Scotland
Phyllis told of her support of Motherwell Football Club and her memories of their Scottish Cup wins.
